From Seed to Soul: Starting Something You Love and Watching It Grow
Let me be real with you; I’m still figuring this out. All of it. Running a small business, living more intentionally, trying to create something that actually matters. I didn’t wake up one day with a five-year plan and a Pinterest-perfect product line. I just had this tiny feeling in my gut that I wanted something more. Something slower. Something with soul.
And honestly? It started with a seed. Literally. I planted something in my garden and watched it grow. That tiny act of care hit different. It reminded me that something small, tended to consistently, can become something whole. Something real.
That’s what Sustainable Soul Rochester is. A little seed of an idea that I decided to actually water.
I started paying more attention to the products I was using at home. I got curious. I asked questions. I started making swaps, choosing slower options, and learning how much of a difference small changes could make. I didn’t have some huge eco-transformation. I just... started.
I think we all kind of crave that feeling of connection. Like, we want to feel like the things we surround ourselves with matter. That our purchases mean something. That we’re not just consuming to consume. For me, creating Sustainable Soul became a way to take those thoughts and actually do something with them.
Some days I feel super aligned and creative. Other days I’m deep in imposter syndrome, questioning everything. It’s messy. It’s real. But every time someone connects with what I’m making, or tells me it made their day feel a little softer, it reminds me that this work matters; even when I’m not sure what I’m doing.
This business isn't about being the next big thing. It’s about showing up in small, meaningful ways. It’s about sharing pieces of myself and hoping they help someone else feel a little more grounded, a little more seen.
So if you're in that "figuring it out" phase too...welcome. Me too.
This story, this brand, this whole thing came from a soft start. Not a perfect one. Not a well-funded one. Just one tiny action rooted in intention. And like I say often:
Sometimes the softest starts become the strongest roots.
You don’t need to be perfect, polished, or have a plan to start something beautiful. You just need to care. You just need to begin.
Start with a seed. Start with what feels right. And trust that if you keep showing up, something beautiful will grow.
